…to enable the free exchange of ideas by supporting creative expression.
The arts are an essential component of individual and communal self-expression. They provide us with the tools to share our commonalities, explore our differences, pass stories from one generation to the next, and stimulate our society’s social and economic infrastructure. Studies have also shown that exposure to a high quality arts education has a positive impact on children's self-esteem, curiosity, creativity, and ability to collaborate and work in teams.
The Angell Foundation supports arts organizations that provide diverse artistic experiences which enhance the lives of the people they serve. In these times of economic turmoil, the Foundation seeks to strengthen the viability of existing arts and cultural organizations and increase access to key arts programming, including sequential, standards-based arts education and arts mentorship and career-oriented programs. The Foundation also supports artwork that actively engages diverse communities and addresses issues of social or civic importance.
